Why Go Natural?

May 03, 2021 Salim Mitri

Hello, friend. We're so happy you've found yourself on our website. If you've landed on this page, it probably means that you have been putting in research on how to combat personal odor and remain feeling fresh throughout the day. Ah, deodorant, a savior to many, originated in the late nineteenth century introducing people to the option of masking their unavoidable odors. As many have become reliant on this personal product, the last decade has focused on evolving safe, natural, and quality personal care products. Researchers have deemed some of the ingredients–––like Aluminum, Parabens, and Phthalates can be harmful to the users' health. These compounds help deodorant and other cosmetics, including fragrances, stick to your skin. They also appear to disrupt the way your body produces and uses the hormone testosterone, which women and not just men also make. It plays a role in energy and muscle maintenance. Phthalates could impair reproductive ability in men and could impact fetal development in pregnant women. Research has also linked phthalates to lower IQ and higher rates of asthma.

Our products also do not contain any of the following chemicals: Sulfates, BHA, Petrochemical, polyethylene glycol, synthetic dyes, artificial colors, talc, perfumes, DEA, MEA, and TEA. Your underarms are one of the most sensitive areas of your body. So doesn't it make sense to keep harsh chemicals away from them?

The use of these ingredients in deodorant is not acceptable, and we firmly stand against it. That's why our team has gone above and beyond to formulate a natural deodorant that works.

Priority Organics deodorant is formulated with all-natural ingredients that have been sustainably sourced and never tested on our animal friends. Choosing natural means you're deciding to invest in your health and the use of ingredients known to be safe and not negatively impacting your health. Our deodorant is so natural, you could eat it, although we do not recommend doing so.

Our deodorant is composed of five key ingredients; Virgin Coconut Oil, Essential Oils, Arrowroot, Baking Soda, and Beeswax. Let's take a moment to break down why each of these ingredients is wonderful.

Coconut oil has been described as "the healthiest oil on earth." In traditional medicine, coconut has been esteemed as a valuable source of both food and medicine. For thousands of years, coconut products have been used to treat a wide variety of health problems. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil possess antimicrobial properties, which help protect the skin from harmful bacteria. Coconut oil also reduces inflammation keeping the skin soft and moisturized.

Essential Oils have been used for many years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. Because of their antidepressant, stimulating, detoxifying, antibacterial, antiviral, and calming properties, they are recently gaining popularity as a natural, safe, and cost-effective therapy for a number of health concerns. Lavender oil not only has a therapeutic scent, but it also boosts potent anti-inflammatory properties and is ultra-soothing for the skin. The Tea Tree oil acts as an anti-inflammatory relieving itchy and dry skin. Tea tree is also antibacterial oil.

Arrowroot is a starch obtained from the rootstock of tropical plants. It has been used as a topical treatment to promote the healing of cuts/scars and is a great, natural potassium and calcium supplement. It reduces odors, moisturizes the skin, and helps to eliminate toxins. Arrowroot absorbs oils very well. This white powder is used as a thickening and stabilizing agent in food preparation. It is also instrumental as a chemical-free, non-synthetic body care formulation base. We include it in our deodorant to help absorb moisture and reduce oiliness.

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, gains its superpowers from a two-letter term: "p.H.," an acronym for "potential of hydrogen." Allowing for measurement of acidity. When added to substances and acids, it becomes more alkaline (neutral). That's why it can quickly soothe an upset stomach or cover bad smells.

And finally, beeswax is the natural wax substance that beehives produce. It helps keep the skin feel hydrated and soft. Due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, beeswax can inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungus, helping with rash conditions. Beeswax helps moisturize the skin without clogging the pores.

Combined with a few other ingredients, our deodorant will serve you well. If you're interested in trying it, here is your sign to give it a go. Going natural is the way of the future, and a way to get to a healthier you. If you have any questions about our formula, please reach out via the form on our contact page.
